Leveraging Real-Time Locating Systems (RTLS) to Lower Health Care Costs
Webinar Date: ON DEMAND
Webinar Length: 60 min.
Webinar Overview:
During this webinar you will see the results of the implementation of a real-time location sensing solution to track medical equipment in a large hospital setting. Implementation strategies, inventory "right-sizing" tactics, and overall cost savings will be presented.
Speaker Information:
Clint Abernathy, Performance and Productivity Director
Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas

Learning Objectives:
1. Determine effective use of RTLS technologies to reduce healthcare cost
2. Design implementation process for successful RTLS deployment and achieving positive outcomes
3. Learn how to utilize location and condition-sensing data to benchmark current situation and drive process improvements
Webinar Description:
The situation seems straightforward: manage assets in the hospital to ensure that patients get what they need when they need it, and make certain the hospital deploys its resources effectively. However, the reality is that with thousands of assets in constant motion each and every day, this is a very difficult balance to maintain. Simple activities, such as finding a piece of equipment (which can consume 20% of a caregiver’s shift) slow down patient flow, add cost, and even impact patient care.
Attend this webinar to learn from the Director of Performance and Productivity at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas (THD) how they save millions by implementing a real-time visibility solution. The initial implementation at THD included more than 6,600 tracked items across 1.6+ million square feet spanning several departments and buildings.
Since implementing the enterprise visibility solution, THD knows the actual utilization rates of their resources, they better understand the inventory levels they need on hand, whether future purchases are required, and how to maintain their inventory at optimum levels. As a result, they save tens of thousands of dollars each month. In addition, by monitoring the usage of rental equipment in real time and providing alerts to the proper people when rental equipment is sitting idle, THD is achieving a monthly saving of more than $30,000. THD has also experienced substantial improvements in staff efficiency since deploying the real-time locating solution, because nurses are caring for patients, not looking for things, which translates directly to higher patient satisfaction.
Learn how THD collects data from multiple systems, including RTLS and other sensory network data, and then utilizes this data to benchmark their current situation, drive process improvements, and quantify, in hard dollars, the difference they are making.
Benefits Texas Health Dallas is experiencing:
• Real-time operational visibility
• Reduced rental expenses and right-sized inventory levels
• Higher patient satisfaction
• Conversion of Non-Value-Added to Value-Added time
• Increased staff productivity and improved asset utilization
• Increased compliance
Don’t miss your chance to learn how your organization can save millions by implementing a real-time locating system.
